Nauvoo the beautiful

Nauvoo TempleNauvoo Temple

No trip to Nauvoo is complete without a trip to the Nauvoo Temple, even if it's just to walk on the temple grounds. The temple site offers a beautiful overview of Old Nauvoo and the river front.

Don't miss the bronze statue of Joseph and Hyrum in front of the temple. It's a great photo spot! Created by sculptors Stan Watts and Kim Corpany, it depicts Joseph and Hyrum the day that they left Nauvoo for the final trip to Carthage jail.

During the summer months, the temple is open for sessions Monday through Saturday beginning at 8:00 am. To see the complete schedule, see the Nauvoo Temple Schedule at lds.org.

The Temple Arrival Center, located north of the temple, is for family coming with you but who will not be attending the temple. A mother's lounge and church films for kids are available to keep kids occupied while you attend the temple, provided they have a chaperon 18 years of age or older. The Temple Arrival Center is open one half hour before the first session of the day and closes one half hour after the last session begins.

Nauvoo TempleThe Temple Information Center is across the street from the temple. Two short movies recount the Restoration and the rebuilding of the Nauvoo Temple.
